How to Pray

Please prayer that our team would bond deeply and flow together quickly. That the gifts we carry would be beautifully blended together to express the kindness and love of God. Pray that our heart posture as a team would be rest and trust, not striving and trying to do it on our own or to make something happen. Please pray that we would “see” people – really see them and to “walk slowly through the crowd”, following Jesus’ example. Please pray that heavy burdens and exhaustion would be traded in for a light load and “real rest”.

Please pray that we would have eyes to see what our Father is doing and ears to hear what He is saying in each opportunity open before us. Pray that we would speak with boldness and love every word the Father gives us. Pray that we would be filled with joy and peace as we trust in Him and that our eyes would be wide open in wonder and belief!

Jill’s Thoughts

Following our 2019 visit to Channoeun and Kovonne (Compaan)San – friends/leaders at the YWAM base in Battambang, Cambodia – we began making plans to return for a longer outreach. COVID delayed those plans but we are seeing again how perfect God’s timing is!

Battambang has the largest YWAM base in Asia with 100 staff and leaders. These solid and committed leaders are literally spending their lives day in and day out pouring into their students, their families, their country, and their world. It is our desire to spend the entire month of March serving them. Through coffee dates and evening meals, a week-long Oasis filled with quiet space, unrushed worship, mini-teachings, and reflective stations designed for slowing down and listening for God’s still small Voice, and individual prayer times for healing and breakthrough, we are bursting with anticipation for how God will move. We have a real sense that a cooling breeze of refreshment from His Spirit is on its way to these precious leaders and to the country of Cambodia.

Following our time in Cambodia, it’s on to our beloved Thailand. We’ll be making stops in ChonBuri, Bangkok, MaeSot (on the border of Myanmar), and Chiang Mai – spending time with missionary friends and making ourselves available to come alongside. We “see” them – their sacrifice, their commitment, their love for Jesus and His people, their willingness to pour themselves out without restraint…We want to bless and encourage them in any way possible, whether that be helping with a ministry project, bringing some wish list items from the States or spending time listening to their hearts and helping to bear their burdens through prayer…It doesn’t matter to us. We’re all in.

Bio

When Jill was 13, her dad gave her a brand new copy of The Living Bible and a “read through the Bible in a year calendar”. Little did she know that this would give birth to a lifelong love for the Word of God. Ever since, some of her happiest moments are spent curled up with her Study Bibles and journal! She’s written several in-depth Bible Studies, which she shares through FSM’s Current for Women events as well as in other retreats, conferences and events throughout the US and Canada, as well as the countries of India, Albania, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Having struggled for years with the pain of rejection and self-hatred associated with being born with birth defects, Jill’s heart was literally captivated by the Lord Jesus at age 16 when she received a deep and lasting emotional healing that set her free! Now, all of her sharing and teaching from the Word is delivered from the greatest passion in her heart – to know God and be known by Him. Jill loves light, color, beauty, adventure and long, deep heart to heart conversations over bottomless cups of Dark Roast coffee!!

How to Pray

Please pray for quick, deep, unified heart connection with each member of the leadership team of Diaconia. Please pray for eyes to see what our Father is doing and ears to hear what He is saying in each opportunity open before us. Pray that we would speak with boldness and love every word the Father gives us to share. Pray that we would be filled with Joy and Peace as we trust in Him and that our eyes would be wide open in Wonder and Belief!

Jill’s Thoughts

n December of last year, my friend, Marilyn, from Washington first approached me about the possibilities of making a scouting trip to Asuncion, Paraguay. Marilyn has been to a Current for Women weekend and a couple of church retreats I’ve spoken at. She knows me and she knows my heart. When she called me in December, she was keen on connecting me with her friend Adela Braun, director of a non-profit women’s ministry in Asuncion called Diaconia (Deacon). Women from Marilyn’s church had partnered a couple of times with Adela and Diaconia and Marilyn felt impressed to connect me with Adela, believing that we were kindred spirits and that God may be opening a door for a future FSM ministry opportunity.

The heart behind Diaconia is three-fold: 1) To provide microloans to start and grow microenterprises, giving priority to women and poor families. 2) To provide courses in vocational trades and financial management, and 3) To provide personal encouragement through the Word of God and the spiritual companionship of chaplains in Diaconia Trust Groups. Currently there are 60+ women chaplains who oversee 3000+ women. (For more information, visit http://www.diaconia.com.py/wwd.html)

A Skype call with Marilyn, Adela and me confirmed Marilyn’s suspicions!! We clicked immediately!! Adela is fun and free and passionate and visionary and she was very excited about the possibility of a visit from us.

With that in mind, four of us – Marilyn Gross, my sister Jamie Beck, my good friend Lori Riley and I – will journey to Asuncion, Paraguay, October 6-14. Our goal is to get to know Adela and her leadership team and to see firsthand what Diaconia is all about, to take some time to pour into the chaplains who give so much of their time and energy to the “flock” of women under their care, and then listen to the Holy Spirit as to any partnership He may be initiating for future FSM outreach there.
