Lay It Down

Sometimes the storms of life are so unexpected, you can feel as though you're being blown off course. Tragedy can seem like a cold front in your soul that challenges your trust in God. This project was born out of a place of surrender in the midst of some of these stormy times. Each cut, whether original or drawn from other artists, speaks from the place of trust in God's love and providence when all is chaotic or broken, in and around us. Each song has meant so much to us in our own personal journey through grief - one we've been on for three years, having lost several family members, and the death of some personal dreams.

The title song, Lay It Down, carries this message..."When your plans and dreams don't work out, and you're not sure just how you feel...Lay it down, Jesus waits to work it out. So, lay it down.

Freedom of the Sea

As a boy growing up in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada, Geoff came to love the sea. He loved to go out to a remote place on the coast, find a rock and sit with my Bible and listen. It was during those times, while watching the waves, that he came to believe that God was asking him to give his life away...to step out in trust and allow God to be in control of the direction of his life...to go out on the water with Him. Two decades and forty-three countries later, Geoff has never come to regret that choice. The times in his life when he has experienced the greatest freedom were the times, even in small ways, when he said 'Yes' to God. God has an invitation for us all. It's the invitation to feel the freedom and join Him on the waves...!
